just to let everybody know I have a "job" for the summer working for a company through my school's business partnership doing the all the optics for an invasive biomedical florescent dye kidney monitor. So I am going to be in Terre Haute for a good part of the summer working 40hours a week at 12$ and hour (cha-ching). So if any of you have anything big planned for the summer I can take off time whenever as long as I give notice a few weeks in advanced. I will still be coming to chicago and will be in Minneapolis for a week before coming to Indiana. I will be back a few times during the summer. have fun, we will.

i figured out how that corona froze when the dude opened it. I'm pretty sure it was "super cooled." This means it was colled past it's freezing point, but because there weren't any impurities in the bottle (or it wasn't disturbed) it stayed in liquid form. When he opened it, or tapped it or whatever, the agitation allow a nulceus of crystallization to form, which quickly spread through the entire bottle.

the same process can work in reverse, where a liquid is heated bast it's boiling point but doesn't actually boil until agitated. If you put a new pyrex container full of water in the microwave, it will heat past the boiling point, agitating it (by shaking it or putting a spoon in it or adding cocoa mix) will cause it to violently vaporize (partially) boiling all over the place. supposedly this is why you shouldn;t microwave water, because it can pass the boiling point without notice and the boil over when you touch it and burn you severely, if you search these things on wikipedia or youtube you can find some cool videos.

sooooo... here's the deal. As some of you may know, I won a seat in the WSOP on pokerstars that they basically said they'd give me in 2008 when I'm eligible. That's a long time away, so I asked them if they would switch the seat for a seat in the 2007 pokerstars caribbean adventure (http://www.pokerstars.com/caribbean-adventure/) which has equal value. They said yes, so now I'm going to the bahamas from jan 4-11 at the beginning of 2007. They sent an email that I THINK basically said that I could choose to either have a room for one person or a room for two people. As part of the seat, they give me $1150 in a 'hotel account' that basically I can only spend on food, so theoretically, a guest and I could eat quite well for a week without spending any money. Airfare is not free, but they did give me $1000 for airfare as part of the wsop seat. So basically, here's my question: anyone want to come to the bahamas with me in january? I would give first dibs to nathan since he plays online poker all the time, but northwestern classes apparently start on the 3rd and he is notoriously a flake, so I kinda doubt he'd come. I know U of M classes don't start until later in january, so nick/steve, do you have any interest? USC and rose-hulman classes start on the 8th, but come on you could totally miss a few days. I could probably be persuaded to subsidize/pay for someone's airfare, so it would basically an entirely free trip to the atlantis resort in the bahamas for free. In fact, although I haven't looked into it, I would imagine it wouldn't be too hard to fit multiple people into my hotel room for two, so I could also very possibly take more than one of you guys.

If you guys have any interest in this, let me know as soon as possible; it will be an amazing time, I promise. I expect the poker will take a back seat to a variety of other sources of fun. Also, let me know if you have any questions.

1- a band i know from school is having a free concert at the whole foods in saint paul. Their playing from 7-9. If people are intersted we could watch some of the concert, then ride back to my abode and rock the house, wild aces style. The band is called hoofla, they're kind of a funk/jam band.

2- we rock the house, wild aces style, sans the concert. people meet around 7, play some handball, get some food, play some more handball, drink, halo, worthless arguments, etc., etc. until the last of us pass out.

Snakes on a Plane

I just saw it, and obviously, it was a rocking movie, the crazy snakes, the hilariously bad dialogue (and everything else for that matter), Samuel L. Fucking Jackson. But I do have one bitesize bone to pick with the movie. Kickboxer + Snakes should equal awesome, but that potential was completely unrealized, all he did was carry a woman on his back to safety. booo. I'm guessing neither the director or the producers saw Ong-Bak. A well, a near perfect movie. Anybody else have any thoughts?

As it were, there is a debacle of sorts scheduled for Nathaniel's house on Thursday the 10th of August, of the year 2006, at 9 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST). I assume that Samuel will be bringing his gin, as per Nathaniel's previous requests that he do so. However, I will be putting forth my best efforts to acquire supplemental libations for our gala. My goal, in this post, is to determine what manner of alcohol I shall so acquire. My own personal taste suggests that beer is in order, not only for it's affordability and simple presentation, but for it's novelty in such alcoholic festivities as beer pong. However, as I will not be the only participant, and that I am a proponent of Democracy, I open a forum, herein, for nominations on the alcohol I will attempt to acquire forth with. Congress openly amongst all parties involved, and elect a herald to announce the collective's final conclusion in the morrow. Since I, nor Stephen, are going to play poker, I believe it would be in our best interests to do something while they are off losing money. So I am looking at you, Stephen, Nick, and Andre (if he has recovered from his travels). I would be willing to see "Little Miss Sunshine" again, it was that good, the "World Trade Center" film is coming out tomorrow. 1 in 3 americans believe the government has a role in 9/11. I just think they shot down flight 93. That or we could do something else. Me and Stephen have ass-sured that we will (or at least can) watch "the Royal Tenenbaums" at Nathan's on Thursday by blackmail.

It might be rainy the next few days, I'm not part cherokee, but then again, why does that matter. It is not like they lived outside much more than my people (natures winners*). Why do people think that los nativos are some how better in tune with nature just because their houses the government gives them (we pay for) are decaying a bit. History is full of winners and losers. And I do mean to be callous, because part of suriving is adaptation, adaptation is a profound statement. If people want to live in straw huts and keep on hunting animals with spears because that is what their parents did good for them, but that kind of life style takes up a lot of land, and there is not any more left. All it takes is pressure and time. The same goes for the amish, I don't respect their lives. I do not find something noble in inferiority. Yes, it is inferiority to live a life without life saving medical technology, efficient agriculture, and other things that the other six billion of us have been working with/towards. So, there is my anti-unibomber rant. Because the infant death rate is below 1 in 3 for us, and I believe if they would only sit down at a table with us and had...eggo waffles, they would give up their various lives of simplicity for our brave new world.

I have become alerted to presence of people among us that believe it will rain. max, you have yet to return tipping point, as it was due Thurdsay the 27th as I had told you. The late fine is up to sixty cents, but that is not the biggest problem. Max, when you do this (pull this kind of stunt) it reflect poorly on me. You see, thanks to the patriot act, the government has a right to see what kind of books I have been checking out, but not only that, they have access to my late fee records. For all I know some credit reporting agency takes that information from the NSA. Even if it doesn't, it still is a asshole thing to do. I let you borrow a book that I took out and all you had to do was return it to Washburn by the 27th. I am sorry if you were busy, but that is not a proper reason for not returning the book. So my advice to you is to return said book. I know it is difficult going ALL THE WAY over to the library. But come on. By the way you owe me money for the late fee. I want a full dollar, the paper kind, I will not accept anything less. This is because I now have to hall my ass down to the library and pay said fee. I don't care about the extra forty cents, I will probably just tell them to keep it or else let it fall out of my pocket. My problem is that you seem extremely challenged by such a simple task of moving a book from point A to point B, in this case to clarify since you seem to have trouble with the issue: point A is where the book is now, and point B is the Washburn library returns counter. It better be in good enough condition to return, I would normally assume that, but then again with you it seems I can't assume the obvious, as I had assumed that you could return a book, which most people don't have trouble with. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, well, that is not going to happen. As a clarical side note, I didn't tell you it was last thursday that it was due, I believe I told you it was Wednesday, so add another day to the total. It baffles me that returning a book is so difficult. Perhaps all the guitar playing has left your arm incapable of lifting a book onto a counter and perhaps you went to the library several times but were unable to bring the book to the height of the counter. So in conclusion, please return the book I lent you before I reach my tipping point.

that's why my friend Tron is throwing a kegger at his apartment friday night (I know, Late notice). Friends are allowed, so anyone who wants to come is more than welcome (plus a couple of you know Tron already). It's also a graffitti party, which means everyone wears a white shirt and writes drunken ramblings on everyone else. I would recommend it for those who haven't experienced such an event, or any kegger for that matter. My plan was to bus to the party and take a cab home. My mom is out of town, so anyone that wants to come can split the cab with me and crash at my place.

We are getting together at my mom's house Thursday night for some solid hanging out action. This will most likely involve Halo of the second variety and me beating Max at cards. So pretty much good times all around. My TV is large, I guess.

This Weekend

So it looks like we have a good sized crowd. Here is what I know so far, Ben, Greg, Max, Jeff, Nathan, and I are going up on Friday. Steve and Nick are coming up around 6 on Saturday.

We are leaving on Friday as soon as Max gets out of work, so about 4:30. Meet at my mom's house then. It is about a 2 and a half hour drive. If your parents are wondering it is in Minong, Wi and there is decent cell phone reception so they can call you. The number at the cabin is 715-466-4845.

Max, can you drive on Friday? If for some reason you can't, Greg or Jeff have a car? We need 2 cars for all the people and their stuff. As far as what to bring, clothes, swimming stuff for sure, your own towels and sleeping bags or bedding if you have them. Otherwise we have to wash the bedding that is up there and it is a pain in the ass. There are definitly enough beds for everyone.

The cabin has a shower and a full kitchen. We will be going to buy food around 2 on Friday. I think we should go to Cub. People should think of easy meals they can cook. We need 2 dinners, lunches, and breakfasts. Those who want to go buy food and have imput on what to eat meet at my dad's house around 2 on Friday. I'll post with more specific times before then.

We will be making a fireworks stop or two most likely on our way so bring some cash if you want some. If you have any questions give me a call tonight or tomorrow, I will be getting up early so feel free to call me whenever. See you all tomorrow.

So first is there anything happening tonight? I'm back in the 612 and if you guys are doing anything give me a call. More importantly, my cabin is open this weekend if we wanted to do a little flashback to spring break minus the iowans. Every other weekend is usually spoken for, so if we wanted to go now would be the time. It is about 2 and a half hours away in Minong WI, about an hour or so due east of Hinkley. I suppose we could stop for some good old gambling. Anyway, we have got a good sized lake, a power boat, a floating trampoline, water skies and tubes, lots of wood to burn and a nice cabin. If we went it would probably be Friday day to Sunday night. Steve says he is interested, and I think Nick has to work.

Before I start, what is the interest in seeing the superman film friday/disc golf/hidding in bushes and shooting people with airsoft guns as they walk by?

I got it, well, it will be delivered in a few days, it is with USPS, a groups that has yet to figure out tracking beyond where it was near a few days ago, because somehow UPS has figured it out, updated that it is delivered before I can get to the front door, anyways, not a big deal, not that I have anything to do really, I watched the entire series, seasons 1 & 2, of "Lost" in a 56 hour period, my sister is in Canada, so my house is more free, Halo anyone?, it should be at andre's house, it must have taken longer since Andre is no longer in the area and so the trucks have to travel uphill now (assuming that andre's mass causes a depression around him), this joke is justified because andre forgot halo in someone else's xbox, after bringing OUR xbox down to that small town outside gary, Indiana (Chicago, IL) with out consulting with me or anybody else, well, probably nathan, despite the fact that northwestern college (northwestern university for nathan) ends so late and we would surely figure it out. Then the disc was shipped to andre's dad's house (fully knowing he (andre) wouldn't be there when it arrived) where it will sit with the xbox itself, I would sneak over, but I don't think that will be a great idea, given the track record with that, all I need is a good preamble and this could be the declaration of andrepedence.

I, like Napoleon, require an outlet for my creative talents, Napoleon by god knew how to run things, and he wrote on varied topics beyond military science, he has theories on how to improve the lives of his countrymen. I am pissed because I can't write on my normal blog. I am currently working on a book of how to be a insurgent, as I am very concerned about a foreign force invading an occupying Minneapolis. I really don't care about Indiana, were such a battle to come to fruition I would leave my adopted land, America's crossroads, and return to what I refer to as the fatherland. I am finding it difficult to find information on how to build bombs out of common household chemicals. I have the feeling that government is keeping tabs on me, and I wonder if google (the company that subsidizes "blogger", which in turn supports this site" is part of a massive data mining effort. If so I am sure that my recent rentals from the library will give them something to worry about. But I am a patriot, and watching a documentary about the american revolution gave me a good sense that we were founded by those who wished to unshackle themselves from tyrants, and that much of our continental army fought drunk and that most of their meeting were in bars, our insurgency was organized in the taverns that also doubled as Free Mason halls. Free Masons made up the vast majority of the officers. I like the Free Masons, not the southern ones, but the ones against slavery. Thomas Paine does not get nearly enough credit. Strangely the very existence of libraries give me more patriotic energy, at least for our current government. Paine started the revolution but is largely unknown because he wasn't a badass like Franklin or an ass like Jefferson, tommy boy owned slaves, busted, the history channel talked about how it plagued his mind, well maybe not having slaves would have helped that problem. Ih his defense he did free them in his will, so in death he decided they were people, what a douchebag. Because he was too weak my great-great-great-great-grandfather had to come over from Germany and whop some ass. I feel that if one of my ancestors has to fight a group I have the birthright to make fun of them (especially if they started it). So I would make fun of the South and the Japs, but that is too easy, and I am above that. Now to the topic of dropping the bomb on Japan. I feel that it was totally justified. Why you ask? Because they started it! Way to bomb pearl harbor. We even sent bombers over Hiroshima that didn't drop bombs so they would be used to it and all be outside when the bomb went off. I would talk about the other city but I can't remember the name, I don't really care, it doesn't matter anyways, it is radioactive I don't want to go there. Maybe it was dropped to scare stalin, but it seems to me that the king of whatever they have, Hello Kitty of something, could have dropped FDR a line anyday and settled a peace agreement. And if you want to claim that the people that were killed were not the Hello Kitty of Japan, then too bad, maybe they should have had a revolution and gotten themselves rights instead of playing tribute to a Hello Kitty. People who don't want freedom don't make sense to me. These religious fanatics that give most of the good muslims a bad name for some reason want a book to rule over them instead of their own minds and a little "common sense", maybe they could use a Thomas Paine.

well, being typical...them, Andre and Nathan are supposedly coming back into town today, and they forgot to tell CDS about it. For those of you who don't know what CDS is, it is the blog Collinear Development Strategies, that you have been a part of for over a year. I just want to say that Jeff is tentatively planning a game of capture the flag for 9pm at the Rose gardens, he want everybody to know, especially the child rapists that read this site (Nathan and Andre). I don't know why it takes them so long to get here from Northwest college, but I guess Andre mass and Nathan's ego weigh the car down rather well.

Stephen, we need to do some bread stick soon, eat lunch at DQ when they have student discounts, I don't remember them saying SW only, although I am sure they raised their student prices to above the normal cost by now.

Nick, the film idea sounded good, can we somehow incorporate the song sandstorm into it? If we actually want to be in that film festival we should do a practice one first.

Greg, how much have you won in poker, I am asking in terms of how many Bentleys you own? and as a subquestion, do gold plated backscratchers work as well as pure gold ones, or do you have to melt down some of your krugerrands to re-coat them each time you use them (assuming you don't use them once and throw them at the help)?

Max, bad news, that 48 hour movie thing starts friday. Seeing the movies might be fun though, they start the 13th at the riverview.

Anyway, here's an old idea i had for a movie:

Showdown on the LRT - short film, ~5 minutes

A kid gets on the light rail and sits across from some smug looking kid. The two lock eyes and exchange glances of nonchalance. One shrugs his shoulders or flares his nostrils as a sign of superiority. Thus begins an overly dramatic battle for dominance. Each shrugs shoulders, cracks necks and knuckles, slouching, looking at watches, etc. until one character takes out an mp3 player (The player, in and of itself, is not important. The point is it's ability to play music.). He puts on the headphones and drowns out the attacks of his opponent. The opponent becomes flustered, seeing that his tactics no longer affect the other. He starts sweating and becomes visually traumatized by the crushing defeat, eventually leaving as the LRT comes to a halt. The victor relaxes and sinks into a more comfortable position until another youngin' sits in the seat opposite and their eyes meet.

Shots have to be tight, quick paced, to maintain interest without dialogue.

When the kid enters the train we should see a nervous looking kid (maybe even crying) leaving the seat across from the opponent. When the new kid sits down, his opponent should be smug, calm, but also showing a look of apprehension as their eyes meet. He knows a battle awaits.

Who should pull out the mp3 player? The original kid (established alpha male), or the new kid (overthrowing the power structure)?

The credits should be displayed on the mp3 player's screen.

We should be able to hear the music playing quietly as the kids listens, slightly increasing in volume as his opponent's attacks increase in fortitude.

Maybe some nature sounds in the background to add to the sense of a wildlife documentary. Maybe even some documentary footage when the kid realizes he has been defeated (lion killing a gazelle or something).

What song should the kid listen to? Should either be laid back to emphasize coolness, or aggressive to accentuate dominance.

In contradiction to dogs, eye contact is not necessarily a sign of dominance. While listening to music, the kid deliberately avoids any eye contact, feigning disinterest. The opponent is such a lack of a threat he doesn't even bother looking at him. Meanwhile the opponent continually looks at the opponents eyes to see if he has noticed any of his tactics (a sign of his weakness). However, during the crushing blow, the kid intentionally looks into the eyes of his opponent, to make sure he has his full attention before defeating him.

The crushing blow will follow the kid trying desperately to out cool the other, until the one listening to the music stares at him. We see a close up of each persons eyes; One is calm and lazy looking, the other's eyes are wide, scared; his brow is sweating. The one listening to the music very slowly blinks, then exerts a hearty yawn, lazily smacks his lips, and looks away. We cut to the face of the opponent, he is visually shocked. Initially he doesn't know what to think; he cannot believe what has just happened. His face contorts to that of a child who isn't bought his most desired toy from toys-r-us. On the verge of tears, he quickly retreats for the door.

On his way out he should bump into or brush past the kid who will take his seat. As the first kid exits, the victor should sneakily break from his act to check that his opponent is leaving; a slight grin paints his face. As the new kid sits down next to him, the victor should look him over. The new kid gives the victor a lazy glare. An expression of fear or shock quickly emerges on the victor's face before we see the train doors close from the exterior. credits.

Hey fellas, frolf has been awesome. Edina anyway. We went to highland, and the pins weren't put in yet, so we just played a little anyway, and course is a lot worse than before. Some of the holes that used to have character (obstacles) are now just straight clear fairways the whole way. Maybe it will be better when they put the pins in, maybe not. But the Arby's milkshakes were better than ever.

I'm going up to lake Superior this weekend to work on my dad's sailboat. If Nick or Steve wants to come up and help me, contact me. He'll pay $100 for I'm guessing 9-10 hours of actual work. We're going up Friday morning and coming back either Saturday night or Sunday morning.

I just finished my last class. I've got this friend Irene and she thought it was kind of wierd that I reading her blog so she is trying to wierd me out by reading this blog. Correction: I'll be home on the 11th. I don't think I'll go to to Northwestern, I just wanna relax, maybe get a job and hang with the Fizzle-vert. Ben, about your blog, you're going through all the big issues too fast (government, corporations, the environment), by this time next year you'll have run out of things to talk about, you'll have to resort to discussing the moral implications of why hotdogs come in packs of 6 and hotdog buns come in packs of eight. Speaking of blogs, I might start doing one myself over the summer just as place to drop my two cents, because although my brain is large, it is not large enough to contain the breadth and depth of my thoughts.

There is a professor at USC who teaches boxing classes on the side. I thought I might try it out so that I could rock Nick with some cool moves, but I was too lazy to follow through. Anyway, the upcoming battle will be epic. Who remembers the original Team Nathan? Well I say we undertake a similar operation between when we get back and when he gets back. As we all remember, the original Team Nathan was a horrible failure and Nathan still managed to devastate us with his monster frolf technique and strategems. To avoid a similar fate I propose we ... I don't really know, just frolf a lot I guess. Maybe a team mascot would help. Does anyone on the team have mascotting experience? I think this might be a good opportunity for Greg to take one for the team, being that he doesn't frolf himself, he could support the team dressed as a giant animal cheering and thus improving morale. I think a penguin suit would really intimidate Nathan. Please give suggestions.
